GENERAL INFORMATION
Natural snow cover permitting, here we can walk with the snow shoes (locally called ‘ciaspole’) from November to April, along many easy, simple and safe trails, in which you will be accompanied by our expert guides of the Mazarol, who also bear the title of “Osservatori Nivologici AINEVA” (Snow Observers connected to AINEVA, the Inter-regional Association that looks after monitoring Snow Levels and Avalanche Risk) at level 2 module A, which means providing basic knowledge on the themes of snow and avalanches, with a particular reference to the techniques of surveying and collection of meteorological data linked with snow and avalanche classification — a fundamental skill in order to carry out winter excursions with the snowshoes in safety.
Our excursions with the snowshoes (known as ‘ciaspolate’) can be all day long, morning-only or evening-only, and given the cold season, they always lead to an Alpine hut (‘Rifugio’), where one can warm oneself up in the coziness of a ‘Stube’ (the wooden-clad rooms with an open-hearted stove, typical of here); here you will also be able to savor the typical dishes of the traditional cuisine of the Dolomites. We carry out our snowshoes in the Dolomites, in the Pre-alps of Belluno, in Alpago and Cansiglio, in Asiago and in the Pre-alps of Vicenza; in order to take part to these outings, courses are not necessary, and particular training is not needed either: everybody can walk with the snowshoes, as it is a type of excursion in which we trek in no hurry, thus discovering the tracks of the wild animals on the snow while admiring the shapes of a white landscape, also visible at night in full moon. A service of rent for the snowshoes and the sticks is also available.
